Description
Located in south central North Carolina along the boundary with South Carolina, 42 km (26 mi) southeast of Charlotte; County Seat: Monroe.
History
Formed in 1842 from Anson and Mecklinburg Counties; so named because the county was created from two existing counties. (NC-T11/p507)
