Description
Located in southwestern North Carolina along the boundary with South Carolina, 71 km (44 mi) east-southeast of Asheville; County Seat: Rutherfordton.
History
Formed in 1779 from Tryon County when it was divided to form Rutherford and Lincoln Counties. (US-T11/p430)
