Description

Located in northestern North Carolina, 82 km (51 mi) west northwest of Raleigh; County Seat: Nashville.

History

Formed in 1777 from Edgecombe County; named in honor of General Francis Nash (1742-1777) of Hillsborough, who was killed in the Battle of Germantown while serving under General George Washington. (NC-T11/p345)
