Description
Located in central North Carolina, 71 km (44 mi) northwest of Fayetteville; County Seat: Carthage.
History
Formed in 1784 from Cumberland County; named for Captain Alfred Moore (1755-1810) of Brunswick County, who served in the Revolutionary War and later as a judge on the U S Supreme Court. (NC-T11/p333)
