Description
Located in eastern North Carolina, 54 km (34 mi) south southwest of Greenville; County Seat; Kinston.
History
Formed in 1791 from Dobbs County when portions of that county were added to other counties; named for William Lenoir (1751-1839), a hero from the Battle of Kings Mountain. (NC-T11/p278-9)
