Located in northeastern North Carolina, just east of the City of Rocky Mount; County Seat: Tarboro.
History
Formed in 1741 from Bertie County; named for Richard Edgecombe (1680-1758), who served as Lord of the Treasury, and as a member of Parliment. (NC-T11/p158)
