Located in northeastern Davie County.
History
Known as Shady Grove as early as 1816. A post office was established in 1877 but another post office in North Carolina already used that name. The name "Advance" was chosen by the citizens of the community in hopes that their town would "advance" in the name of progress. (NC-T11/p5)
