Description
Located in central North Carolina, 40 km (25 mi) south of Winston-Salem; County Seat: Lexington.
History
Formed in 1822 from Rowan County; named in honor of General William Lee Davidson (1746-1781), who was killed in the Battle of Cowans Ford on the Catawba River during the Revolutionary War. (NC-T11/p135)
