Description
Located in western Ashe County, 24 km (15 mi) west of Jefferson.
History
Settled in 1886 as Solitude. The communty name was changed in 1914 to Ashland for Ashe County, named for Samuel Ashe (1725-1813) who served as Governor of North Carolina from 1795 to 1798. (NC-T11/p15)
