Description

Located in north central North Carolina along the boundary with Virginia, 68 km (42 mi) northwest of Durham; County Seat: Yanceyville.

History

Formed in 1777 from Orange County and named for Richard Caswell (1729-1789), member of the First Continental Congress, a Major General in the Revolutionary war, and North Carolina's first Governor. (NC-T11/p93)
