Description

Located in northeastern North Carolina along the boundary with Virginia, 161 km (100 mi) northeast of Rocky Mount; County Seat: Camden.

History

Formed in 1777, named for Sir Charles Pratt, Earl of Camden (1716-1794), Statesman and politician who opposed taxation of the American Colonies and who vehemently fought against the Stamp Act. (NC-T11/p82)
