Description
Located in south central North Carolina along the boundary with South Carolina; County Seat: Wadesboro.
History
Formed in 1750 from Bladen County and named for Lord George Anson (1697-1762), a British Admiral who was responsible for safeguarding the coasts of the Carolinas. (NC-T11/p11)
