Described in one source as "Several north to northeast trending ridges eight miles east of Las Vegas in Clark County are collectively known as the Frenchman (or Sunrise) Range. Commencing from a point at Las Vegas Wash, the arc-shaped range extends 13 miles north to Gypsum Wash. Frenchman Mountain commands the range. With an elevation of 4052 feet, it stands about 2100 feet above its west side."
