Description
Located in northeastern Nebraska, just northeast of Norfolk and 142 km (88 mi) northwest of Omaha; County Seat: Wayne.
History
Named for Anthony Wayne (1745-1796), a General in the Revolutionary War. Organized by a proclamation of Governor David Butler in the fall of 1879, the County boundaries were legally established on 4 March 1871. (NE-T18/p143)
