Description

Located in central Nebraska, 90 km (56 mi) northwest of the community of Grand Island; County Seat: Ord.

History

So named because the land within the county consists mostly of the valley land lying between the higher table lands in the North Loup valley. First settlement in this county came in April 1872. The boundaries of Valley County were created on 1 March 1871 and formally established by an act of the Nebraska Legislature on 23 June 1873. (US-T801/p192)
