Description
Located in east central Nebraska, about 51 km (32 mi) west of Omaha; County Seat: Wahoo.
History
Originally named Calhoun County with boundaries defined on 26 January 1856 and redefined on 3 November 1858. This name was changed by an act of the Legislature on 8 January 1862 to honor Alvin Saunders who served as Nebraska Territorial Governor from 1861-1867. (NE-T18/p125-6)
