Description
Located in southeastern Nebraska, 51 km (32 mi) southwest of Lincoln; County Seat: Wilber.
History
Surveyed in 1855 and organized in 1868. Named for the supposed (and eventually unfounded) abundance of salt (saline) deposits in the County. Boundaries were defined on 6 March 1855 and redefined on 26 January 1856. (NE-T18/p122)
