Description

Located in west-central Nebraska, 51 km (32 mi) north of Sidney and 51 km (32 mi) east-southeast of Scottsbluff; County Seat: Bridgeport.

History

Named in honor of Civil War veteran Charles Henry Morrill who later served as regent of the University of Nebraska from 1890-1903. Morrill County was taken from a portion of Cheyenne County and was established at the general election on 3 November 1908 and by proclamation of Governor George Sheldon on 12 November 1908.
