Located in central Nebraska, about 116 km (72 mi) west-northwest of Lincoln; County Seat: Central City.
History
Named for Elvira Merrick, spouce of Representative Henry W De Puy of Dodge County, who introduced the bill to establish Merrick County and to locate the County Seat at Elvira. Merrick County was established on 4 November 1858. (NE-T18/p102)
