Description

Located in central Nebraska, 130 km (80 mi) north-northwest of Kearney; county seat: Taylor.

History

Established on 6 March 1855, with boundaries redefined on 23 February 1883. Named for the Loup River (which flows through the County), which was named for the Pawnee Loup Indian Tribe. (US-T131/1960/NE Placenames, p98)
