Description
Located in south-central Nebraska, 26 km (16 mi) south of Kearney; county seat: Minden.
History
Established by an act of the State Legislature on 10 January 1860 and named for Fort Kearney, which was named for Major Stephen Watts Kearney. (US-T131/1960/NE Placenames, p83)
