Description
Located in northeastern Nebraska along the Mississippi River and the boundary with Iowa, 129 km (80 mi) north-northwest of Omaha; County Seat: Dakota City.
History
Named for the Dakota Indian Tribe. "Dakota" translates to "allies" or "brothers." Approved by the Territorial Leglislature on 26 January 1856. (NE-T18/p48)
