Description
Located between Coulter Canyon and Meriwether Canyon, 1.6 km (1 mi) E of the Missouri River, 31 km (19 mi) NNE of Helena.
History
Named for Sacajawea, a Shoshoni woman who traveled with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. A proposal to change the spelling of the name Sacajawea Mountain to Sacagawea Mountain was submitted in February 1998. In May 2000, the proposal was rejected by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (USBGN).
