Description
Located along the Missouri River within the City of Great Falls, 0.8 km (0.5 mi) NE of the North Montana State Fairgrounds.
History
Named for a Shoshoni woman who traveled with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. A proposal to change the name Sacajawea Island to Sacagawea Island was submitted in February 1998. In October 1999, the proposal was rejected by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (USBGN).
