Description
An island off the southern part of Portage des Sioux Township, in the Missouri River. The conjecture has been made that it was so called because a man named Keen (or Keene) "hogged" it, appropriated it by "squatting" there. This seems, however, a speculative and doubtful explanation. More probably it was named for the animal.
