Description
Located in western Ohio along the boundary with Indiana, 80 km (50 mi) northwest of Dayton; County Seat: Celina.
History
Created on 12 February 1820, named for General Hugh Mercer, a Revolutionary War hero who died in 1777 in the Battle of Princeton. (OH-T131/1953/This Is Ohio, p221)
