Description
Located 10 mi S of Fitchburg (US-T121).
History
It was settled in 1720 and incorporated as a town in 1781. May have been named in honor of Lord Stirling (1736-1793), a Revolutionary War General. Another theory is that the town took its name from Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland (MA-T1/p44).
