Description
Located 20 mi SW of Fitchburg (US-T121).
History
It was settled in 1733 and incorporated as a town in 1754. Named for Petersham, Surry, England, which was probably the home of some of the settlers. Before 1754, the settlement was known as the plantation of Nichewoag (MA-T1/p37).
