Description
Located on the CT, RI, and MA boundaries, 16 mi S of Worcester (US-T121).
History
It was settled about 1722 and incorporated as a town in 1775. Named for Dr. William Douglas (c.1691-1752) of Boston, a Scotchman by birth, physician, and author of historical and medical books. In appreciation of the honor, he gave the town $500 and 30 acres of land. Before 1746, it was the district of New Sherburn (MA-T1/p16).
