Description
Located 19 mi SW of Fitchburg (US-T121).
History
Settled in 1720, incorporated as the town of Hutchinson in 1774. Called Hutchinson after the Royal Governor, Thomas Hutchinson. Renamed Barre in 1776, for Colonel Isaac Barre (1726-1802), English Parlimentary friend of the colonist (MA-T1/p8).
