Description
Located on the NH-MA boundary, 14 mi NW of Fitchburg; Worcester County (US-T121).
History
It was settled in 1753 and incorporated as a town in 1764. Named for Winchendon, England, a town in which Governor Francis Bernard (1714-1779) of Massachusetts had an heirs interest. Before 1764, it was known as the plantation called Ipswich - Canada (MA-T1/p. 51).
