Description
Located 10 mi W of Worcester; Worcester County (US-T121).
History
It was settled in 1721 and incorporated as a town in 1775. Probably named for Lieutenant Governor Spencer Phipps (1685-1757), who was instrumental in securing a district status for the settlement in 1753 (MA-T1/p44).
