4.5 mi SSW of Boston C.H.; City of Boston.
History
Named for the original town (annexed to Boston in 1869) which was named for Dorchester, England, the home of its settlers (Barber 1839; MGB 1932). Indians called the place Mattapan (Nason 1874).
