Description
Located on W shore of Broad Sound, just NE of Boston; Suffolk County (US-T121).
History
Settled in 1635, incorporated as a town in 1852. Named in honor of Governor Winthrop (1588-1649) of MA whose 6th son, Deane (1623-1704), built a home in the Town of 1649 (MA-T1/p52).
