History
Settled in 1632, incorporated as a town in 1642. Received its name from the extensive marshes in the town area. Before 1642 it was called Rexham, which may have been a corruption of Wrexham (a town in Denbigh County, Wales) or a combination of the Latin words for Kingston (MA-T1/p29).
