Description
Located 10 mi E of Taunton; Plymouth County (US-T121).
History
Settled in 1660, incorporated as a town in 1669. So named because it was halfway between Plymouth and Mount Hope, the home of Massasoit. Before 1669, it was common land called Namassakett (MA-T1/p30).
