Description
Concord River is located heads at the junction of the Assabet and Sudbury Rivers, flows N for 16.3 miles to the Merrimack River 0.6 mi E of Lowell C.H.; City of Lowell and Towns of Tewksbury, Chelmsford, Billerica, Bedford, Carlisle, and Concord.
History
The Indian name for the Concord River was Musketaquid. According to H. D. Thoreau. This means "Meadow River" (MA-T45), but Douglas-Lithgow translates it as "a grassy brook" (MA-T46).
