Located 10 mi W of Boston (US-T121).
History
Settled in 1639, incorporated as a town in 1691, and as a city in 1871. Took its name from the original name of Cambridge, New Towne, of which it was a part. The present spelling gradually evolved. Also known in 1691 as the town of Cambridge Village or Little Cambridge (MA-T1/p33).
