Description
Located 13 mi NW of Boston (US-T121).
History
Settled about 1650, incorporated as a town in 1754. Name probably selected by Chambers Russell, Esquire who was instrumental in getting the town incorporated, in memory of the home of his ancestors, Lincolnshire, England. A rather improbable theory is advanced that the town was named for the 9th Earl of Lincoln (MA-T1/p27).
