Description
Located 8 mi E of Fitchburg; Middlesex County (US-T121).
History
Settled about 1720, incorporated as a town in 1753. Named in honor of William Shirley (1694-1771), Governor of MA at the time of the town's incorporation (MA-T1/p42).
