History
Settled 1664, incorporated as a village on June 17, 1785; reincorporated as a town in 1809. So named because of its relationship to the parent towns of Northampton on the north, and Southampton on the south (MA-T1/p17). On April 1, 1996, the community voted to adopt a city form of government and to amend the Home Rule Charter so that the 'Town of Easthampton' became known as the 'City of Easthampton'.
