Located in Berkshire Hills, 19 mi SW of Greenfield; Hampshire County (US-T121).
History
Settled about 1761, incorporated as a town in 1762. Named in honor of the famous letter writer, the 4th Earl of Chesterfield (1694-1773). Before 1762, it was the new plantation called New Hingham (MA-T1/p14).
