Description
Located 16 mi S of Greenfield; Hampshire County (US-T121).
History
Settled 1703, incorporated as a town in 1775. Named for Lord Jeffery Amherst (1717-1797), under whom many of the townspeople served during the French and Indian Wars (MA-T1/p6).
