Description

Located on the CT-MA boundary, 19 mi SE of Springfield (US-T121).

History

Settled about 1726, incorporated as the town of South Brimfield in 1775. So named because it was originally the southern part of Brimfield. Renamed Wales in 1828 for the James Wales, son of an early settler, when it was learned that he was leaving the town $2,000.00 (MA-T1/p47).
