Description
Located on the CT-MA boundary, in Berkshire Hills, 16 mi SW of Springfield; Hampden County (US-T121).
History
Settled 1736, incorporated as a town in 1775. Named in honor of John Carteret (1690-1763), Earl of Granville. Before 1754, it was known as the district of Bedford (MA-T1/p21).
