Description
Located 5 mi SE of Greenfield; Franklin County (US-T121).
History
Settled in 1715, incorporated as a town in 1775. Named in honor of Captain William Montague (1720-1757), English seaman and commander of the Mermaid at the capture of Cape Breton, 1745 (MA-T1/p32).
