Description
Located in Salem Sound in Massachusetts Bay, 4 km (2.5 mi) E of the City of Marblehead, 10.5 km (6.5 mi E of the City of Salem.
History
This feature was called Cat Island in 1794 in the English Pilot (Board on Geographic Names (BGN) Files). Later it was called "Childrens Island" after the childrens' hospital which was once located on this island (MGB, 1932).
