Description
Located 10 mi W of Gloucester (US-T121).
History
Settled in 1638, incorporated as a town in 1793. Named in honor of Alexander Hamilton, associate in the Continental Congress of Dr. Manasseh Cutter, a local resident. Before 1793, it was that part of Ipswich known as 'The Hamlet' (MA-T1/p22).
