Description
Located on Massachusetts Bay, S of Salem; Essex County (US-T121).
History
Settled in 1629, incorporated as a town in 1852. May have been derived from the Indian 'Winneasguam' of 'Winnipesiekett,' meaning 'pleasant water place' (MA-T1/p45).
