Description
Located on Massachusetts Bay, 2 mi SE of Salem; Essex County (US-T121).
History
Settled in 1629, incorporated as a town in 1649. So named because of the prevalence of gray granite which the early settlers mistakenly called 'marble stone'. Formerly called Marble Harbor (MA-T1/p29).
